Moving Upstairs

The history of Rich and I living in this house is a little confusing to those who haven't known us every step of the way. We live in a really old single family home that was eventually converted into seven apartments. It's very charming and interesting, but a little awkward because of all the converted space. When we first moved in to our complex, we moved into a tiny apartment on the second floor. I'm talking ridiculously tiny. We could barely move. We only moved in there because we wanted so desperately to be out living on our own. When we found out that a larger apartment was available downstairs on the first floor, we jumped at it immediately. Now we've been living here in this apartment for about a year. It's a one bedroom, one full bathroom with a decent sized living room and kitchen. The best part is being on the first floor and having garage access. When we first moved in here it was pretty beat up and we re-finished a lot of it for our landlord without asking him to reimburse us. New kitchen floor, new light fixtures, new faucets, hardwood floor polish, new medicine cabinet and towel racks in the bathroom, new ceiling fan in the bedroom plus we painted it ourselves before we moved in so our landlord wouldn't have to do it. When we told our landlord in February we were thinking about moving because we wanted a second bedroom, he told us he wanted us to stay so badly that he'd refinish the entire top floor for us so that we would stay for a few more years. Of course we said yes! Our new apartment should be ready in less than three weeks. It's a two bedroom, one full bath with walk in pantry, a closet in each bedroom, dining area and huuge living room. We get to keep our garage access and we'll have a bonus hidden storage closet behind the bathroom and an attic...Plus we finally get to have a washer and dryer! The downside is being all the way on the third floor, but i'll walk up two flights of stairs. What the hell.

Anyway, there's a ton of things I want/need to get for the apartment.

A new kitchen island! (Ikea)

Console table. We're going to mount the tv above it. Love it! (Target)

Lamps for behind the couch! (Ikea)

New bed! Our current one will go in the guest bedroom :) (Ikea)

But with glass doors. For the living room! (Ikea)

Birdy print for the living room! (Because I like anything decor related with a bird on it for some reason) (Etsy)

New living room rug! (It's huge! 8x10. I loveee ittt!) (Overstock)

For the coffee table! (ZGallerie)

For the fireplace mantle! (ZGallerie)

I want all of these! (Anthropologie)

So hopefully things will go smoothly and we'll be up there before it starts getting ridiculously hot and we have to move all our stuff up there in scorching hot heat. That would not be a fun time.

Another day, another blog

So I suppose it was only a matter of time before I created another blog-like thing on the interwebs. As if being addicted to facebook, twitter and my blackberry wasn't enough for me. lololol.

The thing is, I always have a lot on my mind and for some reason I always feel the need to share it with complete strangers (and possibly a few IRL friends mixed in). Most of the time, it's just meaningless jibberish but every now and then I make a new friend with my idiotic ramblings. So I guess it's kinda worth it. I always think to myself...WHAT!--There's people out there who are just like me!? I need to find them all! Heh.

So, let's see where this goes. Probably not far, but i'm not going to give up on it quite yet.
